There was Violet, sitting at the airport with Amanda, waiting for Dave to arrive. Her heart pounding with excitement, she felt ecstatic that she’d be able to see him again. She began tapping her feet impatiently in an unwanted melody as Amanda gave her a cold stare implying for her to stop. Violet giggled but listened.Minutes turned into hours, and suddenly it seemed like Dave wasn’t coming.“Where is he…?” murmured Violet.Just as Amanda was about to speak, a tall, pale brunette slowly came by.There he was. Dave.Violet went to greet him but got pushed back. Confusion masked her face as she wondered why he did that.“Yo, you okay?” Amanda said sleepily to Dave, but he just ignored them and left.“Well… that was something,” Violet said gloomily.“Yeah, he seems different… doesn’t he?” replied Amanda. The two of them stood up and decided to head back home.Amanda decided to call an Uber. The whole car ride home was silent.Violet’s head was filled with questions coming in and out like a race car. You could sense her stress from a mile away. Amanda noticed this and tried comforting her.“Hey, don’t worry. He was probably just tired. We’ll talk to him in the morning, okay?” Amanda said.Tears filled Violet’s eyes as she nodded, laying her head down on Amanda’s shoulder. Amanda and Violet were Dave’s childhood friends, and they were worried about him. They had seen him change over the years, becoming more distant and aggressive. They knew that they needed to intervene before it was too late. After a few minutes, Violet’s blinking started to get heavy, causing her to sleep. Her frizzy brown hair took over the place. Amanda chuckled and put Violet’s frizzy hair behind her ear, slowly caressing her head.Violet slowly woke up, confused. She asked, “What are you doing?”“Huh – oh, nothing! Don’t worry about it,” replied Amanda nervously.“Were you stroking my head?” Violet said, confused.Just as Amanda was about to reply, she saw something from the corner of her eye. She looked out the tinted window and saw a group of boys in a rundown park fighting with someone who looked a lot like Dave.An overwhelming feeling of panic took over Amanda as she stopped the Uber driver and dragged Violet outside.“Heyyy! What was that for?” yelled Violet.“LOOK! It’s Dave, he’s in trouble!” replied Amanda.Violet gasped. Just as she was about to run over, Amanda stopped her.“We need a plan, or we’ll get caught up in this mess, too,” said Amanda calmly.Violet came to her senses and agreed. The boys were in the centre of the park, so the girls decided to hide behind a large bush not too far from them. After what seemed like hours of thinking, the two of them came up with a ‘reasonable’ plan. They decided to call the police, hoping that they wouldn’t take long. Violet carefully took out her purple iPhone, her hands trembling. She quickly called the cops and told them what was happening. After what seemed like forever, the cops came as their sirens flooded the area. The gang of boys were seen running out of the park. Cops came rushing to the scene, and a few minutes later, Dave was handcuffed. Violet and Amanda both gave each other a look of shock and confusion. Why was Dave being arrested? While Dave was walking to the police car handcuffed, he turned his head, allowing him to get a view of Violet and Amanda. His eyes widened in anger, but just as he was about to say something, the police officer shoved him in the car.“We’ll be going now. Have a good night,” said the police officer.Violet nodded awkwardly, waiting for the officer to leave. Right as he drove off, she sighed. “What do you think Dave did?” she asked.“I don’t know… but I reckon it ain’t good,” replied Amanda.A feeling of guilt wrapped around Amanda like a blanket. “What if it wasn’t a good idea to call the cops?” she thought to herself.Later, at school…It was 12:04 pm; Amanda was in history class, and Violet was in English. Violet sat down in the front row seat, putting her books down and organising her desk. Just as she was doing so, she noticed a figure passing by.Surprisingly, it was Dave.“How’d he get out?” she thought to herself. After school, she decided to go and talk to Dave, but he wouldn’t listen. It turned out he was involved with drug dealing and was in serious debt to a group of boys.Months passed. Violet and Amanda tried their best to help Dave escape from the grip of drug dealing at school, but their efforts were in vain. The three of them had been friends since childhood, but Dave’s involvement in drug trafficking had changed everything. The two girls saw the pain and torment he was going through, but they were powerless to save him from the clutches of addiction and the dangerous world of drugs. As they tried to help Dave, they were met with resistance from the gang of boys who controlled the drug trade in the school. These boys were ruthless and were not going to let anyone interfere with their business. Violet and Amanda had to be very careful with their every move and word.Despite their best efforts, Dave’s addiction had become too severe, and he was assassinated by the same gang of boys who had been supplying him with drugs. The news of Dave’s death hit Violet and Amanda hard, and they were filled with grief and remorse. They had tried their best to save their friend, but it was too late. As they walked through the empty halls of the school, the silence was deafening. The only sound was the faint echo of their footsteps on the linoleum floor. The walls were bare, the lockers empty, and the once-bustling hallways were now a ghost town. The tragedy of Dave’s death was a wake-up call for everyone in the school. The students and teachers alike realised the dangerous consequences of drug trafficking, and they vowed to work together to prevent anything like this from happening again. The once-divided community came together to create a safe and drug-free environment for all.Violet and Amanda never forgot their friend, and in his memory, they continued to fight against drug addiction. They knew that they could not change the past, but they could make a difference in the future. The lessons they learned from Dave’s death would stay with them forever, reminding them of the fragility of life and the importance of standing up for what is right.
